Susan Wannek
Enjoys the outdoors, especially the flower and veggie garden, but I also love hiking with the dogs, kayaking, snowshoeing and riding my bike. For the past 4 years, I have been enjoying this new journey of meeting amazing people from all over and look forward to meeting many more.
Jeff Wannek
A carpenter by trade and has built many homes. He also loves the outdoors and you can see him, building, hiking, hunting or working on his tractor. Jeff is looking forward to what the future holds and to expand our business.
Paul Yeates
An Electrician in the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Paul mostly works away from home but enjoys his time off between jobs. Paul is the Chief of the Lorrain Valley Fire Department.
We LOVE dogs. We have five. They are a big part of our lives. Four of them are Black lab mixes, none are related (everyone asks) and VERY friendly. They love the water and to hang out with new friends. We give them a lot of freedom.
You will see them, they will visit you. When they are hot they will head to the lake for a swim.
If the prospect of 4 tail waggers showing up unexpectedly worries you, please let us know.
As much as we love pets, and I am sure you love yours, we cannot allow our guests to bring pets as we cannot predict how everyone will get along.
Raven
Raven is the greater, She Loves to meet new people. She is a bit over weight so she looks like she will fall over when she gets to wagging her tail too hard.
Gracie
Gracie can be a little timid, especially with children. She is terrified of thunder storms and is not much of a swimmer
Molly
Is the hunter, You will hear her yelp in the bush to tell everyone that she has a squirrel or a grouse in a tree. She is a licker, the kids say that is how to tell if it is Molly or Gracie... just get close, if she licks your face it is Molly.
Mister
Mister is a big goofy guy, He is the youngest of the group and the only boy. He is full of energy and LOVES to swim. He will go out and swim in circles making his happy sounds (which some may mistake for a drowning dog) dunking his head, splashing. We assure you he is not drowning!!
Missie
She is our little White ball of energy. She does not travel far so you may not see her.
Our dogs are our family, our protectors and our friends. The dogs keep the wildlife away. Bears, wolves, foxes all are aware there is a pack here and tend to keep their distance. They are always willing to take you for a walk and show you around. We ask that you never feed the dogs at the cottage. If you love them and want to give them a treat just come up to the house and ask.
In 2016 the three of us decided on a lifestyle change. We began looking for a tourist camp that could accommodate the three of us, provide some supplementary income, allow us to meet and host guests from around the world and eventually support our retirement in our own slice of paradise.
We found that existing camps were well out of reach financially, needed so much work or could not accommodate the three of us through the winter. We found this property and fell in love. It had so much for us to work with and a blank slate to develop our future. We sold our homes just outside Callander, Ontario and made the jump. It took sacrifice and lots of hard work, but we are well on our way to living our dream.
So today, we have Lorne's Cottage, which is gorgeous, Lloyd's Place, built as a home base, The Bowers, built for romance and trailer sites available for weekly rentals. We have a boat launch, hiking trails, fields, the observatory (has to be one of the best views of lake Temiskaming) and so much space. We are planning more cottages, campsites, guided bear hunts, hosting weddings and Family reunions. If there is anything else you desire please let us know.
